Machu Picchu Machu Picchu Machu Picchu Machu Picchu

The True Traveller arranges numerous trips to Machu Picchu each year, whether taking the Inca Trail, or instead the Lares Trek. Both these treks, although not too physically demanding, go above 4000 metres, so you’ll need travel insurance cover which will actually meet your needs for this sort of trek. Although Machu Picchu itself isn’t at a particularly high altitude, on the Inca Trail you’ll take the long steep path through the alarmingly named “Dead Woman’s Pass” which is at 4200 metres, and on the Lares Trek you trek through the impossibly spelt Ipasayqocha Pass at 4550 metres. Most travel insurance won’t cover you for trekking about 4000 metres, but with True Traveller Insurance, if you take out the “Adventure Pack” when you buy your policy, you’ll be covered for trekking over 2000 metres to any altitude, and it covers all the other aspects you’d expect from a quality insurance policy.

In addition, if you’re going away for a long trip and intend to go trekking over 2000 metres, take out our “Adventure Pack” with your Backpacker Policy for a small supplement to ensure that you not only get cover for trekking, but countless other activities as well, such as white water rafting, abseiling or even working whilst you’re away.

The True Traveller is primarily a travel company, not an insurance company, and although we believe we’ve designed the best value inca trail travel insurance we possibly can, we understand that the price of insurance does put people off taking it out to start with. Our maxim is, if you can’t afford travel insurance, you can’t afford to travel.

True Traveller Insurance is rated 4.9 out of 5 based on 66 customer reviews.
